Painting Watercolours the Easy Way
with Charles Evans
Enjoy a relaxed stage by stage workshop with well known artist Charles Evans. This four hour stage by stage workshop will see Charles demonstrate and supervise your landscape painting in watercolour.
Charles Evans was born a Yorkshire country boy with the privilege of playing in the fields, woods, rivers and lakes around his farmhouse family home.
He studied at Lincoln College of Art and finally turned to the medium of watercolour. Watercolour is the traditional English medium because, as many artists have discovered, it captures the beautiful sense of atmosphere, haziness, dampness and watery skies of the British landscape.
He was commissioned by the National Coal Board, as it was then, to paint a series of paintings of pits and pit villages. This led to a very long and fruitful alliance with the Coal Board, who sponsored his first one-man exhibition held at the Headrow Gallery, Leeds, in 1983. After that he held successful one-man or mixed exhibitions up and down the country.
He was then commissioned by Tyne Tees Television to make a short series of painting programmes. These became so successful a total of 96 programmes were made, broadcast across the UK and Europe.
Aside TV appearances Charles is well known for his long running series in various high profile art magazines, a lead demonstrator for Windsor and Newton and a star of making more videos for the company, Teaching Arts.
Please come to the foyer area of the Spa fifteen minutes before the workshop start time to help the ArtWaves Team direct you where you need to be.
